2021 marks PressBox’s fifth annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best Save
With all due respect to César Valdez (remember him?), the best save this year happened at Johns Hopkins Hospital in late August.
Former Ravens defensive tackle Lional “Jelly Roll” Dalton returned to town to receive a life-saving kidney transplant, a procedure he had needed since being diagnosed with kidney failure in early 2020.
A member of the Super Bowl XXXV championship Ravens team, Dalton used the attention his story received to pay his fortune forward. He launched the “Jellyroll Gift Of Life” Foundation in an effort to help others in his situation.
