2021 marks PressBox’s fifth annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best College Athletes: Hayley Horvath
The last two years have required everyone to hurdle over myriad obstacles. There’s no one who has done that better than Hayley Horvath … literally.
The 2020 outdoor track and field season was canceled, but the Towson pole vaulter made up for it in the spring. She won the pole vaulting title at the Colonial Athletic Conference championships, clearing 4.27 meters.
She won the title at the Eastern College Athletic Conference championships, too, clearing 4.06 meters. Then she qualified for the NCAA Championships in Oregon by clearing 4.27 meters at the NCAA East preliminaries.
She was named the 2021 CAA Women’s Field Athlete of the Year in June.
