2022 marks PressBox’s sixth annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best Interim Coach
When Mark Turgeon and the University of Maryland parted ways in December 2021, the men’s basketball team needed a steady hand to keep the program afloat. Enter Danny Manning, who had previously served as the head coach at Tulsa and Wake Forest. The Terps finished the season 15-17 overall and 7-13 in the Big Ten, but Manning kept all of his players engaged throughout a trying campaign. No key players transferred after the season, and we can’t help but give a tip of the cap to Manning for that.
