As the Orioles look ahead to their first playoff appearance since 2016, it is going to be the first playoff appearance for most of the team too.

Only six players on the current roster — three pitchers and three position players — have been to the postseason before.

Here’s a quick look at who on the Orioles has postseason experience:

Position Players

Adam Frazier

Frazier made the playoffs last season with the Seattle Mariners, sweeping the Blue Jays in the wild-card round and losing to the Astros in the ALDS. In the wild-card round, Frazier batted .444 in nine at-bats against Toronto with four hits, two runs scored and an RBI. Things didn’t go as well in the ALDS, where he batted just .071 with one hit in 14 at-bats against Houston.

Aaron Hicks

Hicks has the most playoff experience of any Oriole, having appeared in 30 postseason games with the Yankees from 2017 through 2022. He has a career .216 playoff batting average, with four doubles, two home runs and 12 RBIs in 97 playoff at-bats. He saw limited action in last year’s postseason, with four plate appearances in the ALDS against Cleveland, going 0-for-3 with a walk. He did play in the Yankees’ ALCS matchup against Houston.

James McCann

McCann has reached the postseason with two different teams, playing in the 2020 wild-card game with the Chicago White Sox and the 2022 wild-card round with the New York Mets. He has just seven total postseason plate appearances, though, all of those coming with the White Sox in 2020.

Pitchers

Jack Flaherty

Flaherty is the only Orioles pitcher to start a playoff game, making four starts for the St. Louis Cardinals in 2019 and 2020. In 23 innings pitched, Flaherty has a 3.52 ERA, giving up 23 hits and six walks while striking out 30.

Kyle Gibson

Gibson pitched in the postseason for the Minnesota Twins in 2019 and the Philadelphia Phillies in 2022, and he is one of two Orioles to have made it to a World Series. In 2019, he made one relief appearance for the Twins in the ALDS, allowing three walks, one hit and three earned runs in one inning of work. In 2022, he did not pitch in the wild-card round or NLDS but made an appearance in both the NLCS and World Series. In those two outings, he pitched 2.1 innings without allowing a run.

Jacob Webb

Webb made the playoffs with the Atlanta Braves in 2020 and 2021. He is the other Orioles player to have made it to a World Series, though he did not pitch in the series as the Braves defeated the Astros in 2021. In five career postseason appearances, all in relief, Webb has a 13.50 ERA, allowing nine hits and seven runs while striking out nine in 4.2 innings.
