Baltimore Municipal Golf Corporation (BMGC), also known as Baltimore’s Classic Five, will once again host a series of scramble golf outings this winter, with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start. The Frostbite Scramble, the next golf outing available for individuals to register for, is set for Saturday, February 3 at Mount Pleasant Golf Course.
There are two other scramble golf outings planned this winter at BMGC courses, including:
· Jack Frost Scramble: Saturday, February 17 at Pine Ridge Golf Course
· Superintendent’s Revenge Scramble: Saturday, March 2 at Mount Pleasant Golf Course
Each outing features an 18-hole, four-person team scramble event. In scramble format, all players tee off and then choose to play their next shots from the location of the team’s best shot.
Registration for the outings is now open, and space is limited to the first 30 teams. Registration for a team of four golfers for the Frostbite Scramble and Superintendent’s Revenge Scramble is $260 and includes greens and cart fees, breakfast and prizes. The Jack Frost Scramble at Pine Ridge Golf Course is $280 and also includes greens fees, cart fees, breakfast and prizes. If golfers want to sign up as a single or twosome, they can register online or by contacting the pro shop of their desired location. All singles and twosomes will be grouped into foursomes by the Mount Pleasant Golf Course staff.
“We are thrilled to once again present a lineup of enjoyable scramble golf events tailored for the Baltimore community this winter,” said Tom Pierce, Executive Director of BMGC. “These winter golf outings are extremely popular as evidenced by our first event (Chilly Willy Scramble) already selling out. Our winter gatherings offer golfers, from casual to enthusiasts, a reason to get out and enjoy a unique twist to course play during the colder months. As always, the only weather condition that could lead to a scramble cancellation is the golf course being snow covered.”
The Frostbite and Jack Frost scramble events also feature risk/reward holes and a blackjack station where teams can utilize different tee shots depending on whether they try their hand at a round of blackjack with the starter before teeing off at hole No. 1. The Superintendent’s Revenge scramble features a “toughest setup possible”, where players will be subject to unusual hole locations, tee marker placements and random pieces of maintenance equipment being placed in less than desirable places.
