Brooks Koepka to win, place top 10, place top 20.
With six top-five finishes and three wins, Koepka’s ability to keep the ball in play and hit approach shots onto the safe side of the green in PGA Championships speaks for itself. Overlooking Brooks is disrespectful.
Bryson DeChambeau to win, place top 10, place top 20.
At Valhalla, Bryson will use his tee-to-green dominance to play a simple game.
Jason Day to win, place top 10, place top 20, place top 30.
The Malbon Don is playing damn good golf in 2024 but hasn’t had a signature win in quite some time. Day has six top-10 finishes at the PGA Championship but missed the cut last year. A reinvigorated Day is 15th on tour in driving strokes gained, putts at an elite level and scrambles with the best of them.
Tony Finau to place top 10, place top 20, place top 30.
Finau is outstanding in driving distance, accuracy in his approaches and greens hit in regulation. He ranks No. 1 on tour from 200-225 yards on approaches. But like Justin Thomas, he’s one of the worst putters on tour. In general, Finau has been exceptionally poor around the green and on it. If Finau can putt at an average level and stay relatively out of trouble in thick rough surrounding Valhalla’s greens, he could be a sneaky Sunday contender.
Collin Morikawa to win, place top 10, place top 20, place top 30.
Morikawa has never missed the cut at a PGA Championship and is playing consistently well heading into this week. Following a Masters t3, he finished ninth at RBC, 23rd in New Orleans and t16 last week at Quail Hollow, which has the most similar profile to Valhalla of any course on tour. Morikawa is the second-most accurate driver on tour. He’s been uncharacteristically inaccurate in his approach this year, but that has appeared somewhat reined in since Augusta.
