Best Book
Author John W. Miller released “The Last Manager” in March, detailing how Earl Weaver “Tricked, Tormented and Reinvented Baseball.” It was a spectacular history lesson about the Hall of Fame Orioles manager.
The book teaches younger Orioles fans about the John Madden-esque pop culture figure but also dives into his folksy background as a player, how ahead of his time he was in terms of analytics and the depressing second act he had in the 1980s. Every page of this tremendous book is worth reading.
