2021 marks PressBox’s fifth annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best Homecoming
Catonsville native Wes Unseld Jr. (Loyola Blakefield/Johns Hopkins) took a unique path to becoming an NBA head coach.
The son of the late Hall of Fame Baltimore Bullet, the younger Unseld’s first front office and coaching gigs were both with the same franchise (now the Washington Wizards). The Wizards brought him back as head coach in July, and he led the team to their best start to a season in nearly 50 years.
In October, he was part of an emotional ceremony to unveil a bust honoring his father inside Capital One Arena.
