The Major League Baseball trade deadline has been pushed back later this season and will occur on Tuesday, Aug. 2. As always, the value of many fantasy players will change in the next week and we’ll need to monitor closely. This creates a huge opportunity to capitalize and find players who can help us during the final two months of the season.

Waiver-Wire Targets:

Baltimore Orioles Infielder Ramon Urias — Depending on league size and when waivers run, Urias may not be available as he is one of the hottest pickups. The infielder has been on fire, as he is hitting .371 in the month of July with five home runs. The power has been a nice surprise, but the ability to hit for a good average is what makes him attractive. Urias has hit near the bottom of the order but has been in position to drive in runs. If you need an offensive boost, Urias can be your guy.

Minnesota Twins Infielder Jose Miranda — The 24-year-old is another hitter enjoying a strong month of July, as he is batting .386 with four home runs and 17 RBIs. In his last four games, Miranda has collected 10 hits and is now batting .281 with nine home runs this season. We’re jumping on the hot streak and hoping the infielder can make an impact in the next couple of weeks.

Philadelphia Phillies Third Baseman Alec Bohm — Another hitter who is playing well and makes for a good fantasy target is Bohm. The third baseman is batting .435 in the month of July with two home runs and 13 RBIs. For the season, Bohm has a strong batting average at .294 with six home runs and 40 RBIs. The power may not be what we want, but we’ll take the good batting average.

Seattle Mariners Starting Pitcher George Kirby — The 24-year-old returned to the big leagues on July 26 and threw five scoreless innings while striking out four. The right-hander has been solid all season with a 3.50 ERA, but the Mariners are monitoring his workload. We’ll have to worry about that for the remainder of the season, but he’s been a solid contributor and can help a rotation during the final two months.
