OWINGS MILLS, MD. — The Ravens have signed All-Pro kicker Justin Tucker to a new four-year contract extension, keeping the most accurate kicker in NFL history under contract through the 2027 season.
Tucker, 32, has an NFL-best success rate of 91.1 percent on field goals in his career (326-for-358), and last year he kicked the longest field goal in NFL history with a 66-yarder to beat the Detroit Lions.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but according to ESPN, the extension is worth $24 million over four years, with $17.5 million guaranteed. The average annual value of $6 million in the new deal is the highest for any kicker, as is his $11.5 million signing bonus, according to spotrac.com, which tracks player contracts.
Tucker is entering his 11th season, all with the Ravens, who originally signed him as an undrafted rookie out of Texas in 2012.
“I’m fired up, I’m blessed,” Tucker said during a news conference Aug. 8. “I know that I get to come to work at an amazing place with amazing people. We get to continue working on building something great and working toward championships. Just to know that I will be in the plans for exactly that, that makes me feel very special.”
Seemingly immune from pressure, Tucker has hit 18 game-winning field goals in his career and is 16-for-16 in the final minute of regulation. He had made 58 consecutive field goals in the fourth quarter or overtime.
Tucker has frequently credited his success in the past to the “Wolfpack,” the name given to the specialist trio that included long snapper Morgan Cox and punter Sam Koch. Cox left the team after the 2020 season, and Koch retired this spring, so now the “operation,” as Tucker calls it, falls to second-year long-snapper Nick Moore and rookie punter/holder Jordan Stout.
Tucker had been signed through the 2023 season after signing a previous extension in 2019.
