2022 marks PressBox’s sixth annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best First Homer
The White Sox were ahead, 3-2, with two outs in the bottom of the ninth in August when Orioles rookie outfielder Kyle Stowers lifted a foul pop that was dropped by defensive replacement Adam Engel. Two pitches later, Stowers drilled an 0-2 pitch to the right-center field bleachers for a game-tying home run. Anthony Santander won the game in the 11th inning, but the real star was Stowers for picking the best possible time for his first career homer.
