2022 marks PressBox’s sixth annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best Achievement
It’s hard to imagine anyone being more synonymous with a school than longtime Calvert Hall staple Lou Eckerl. He had served as the school’s athletic director since 1982 and the baseball coach since 2002 when he stepped down following the 2021-22 school year. He finished his career with 475 wins and eight MIAA A Conference titles as the Cardinals’ baseball coach. “It’s one of those jobs that was perfect for me,” Eckerl told PressBox in the spring. “Like the old saying goes, if you get a job you really love, you don’t work a day in your life.”
