Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse’s Katie Detwiler recently chatted with PressBox about a bucket-list place she’s never been, her favorite spot to eat in Baltimore and more. Detwiler recently completed a five-year career at Loyola, where she earned Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year three times and posted 197 draw controls, 86 ground balls and 65 caused turnovers. This summer, the 5-foot-5 defender was one of the top players in Athletes Unlimited. The Devon, Pa., native hopes to stay involved in the game in the future.

PressBox: What would you be doing if you weren’t playing lacrosse?
Katie Detwiler: Probably traveling. I love to visit all different places, so I think I would do something with traveling.

PB: What’s a bucket-list place you’ve never been?
KD: I really want to go to Thailand. I’ve just always seen pictures of it and it looks so beautiful and the water looks so clear and relaxing.

PB: What was your favorite Patriot League road trip when you played for Loyola?
KD: I would have to say Navy just because their stadium is really cool to play in and we always have that rivalry, so it was always really fun.

PB: Are you a good cook? What’s the best dish you make?
KD: Yes, I love to cook. I like making different dips. I make good salsa, guacamole, Mexican street corn dip. Any of those easy recipes I find on TikTok or somewhere, I love making them.

PB: What’s your favorite spot to eat in Baltimore?
KD: Favorite breakfast spot is Golden West Cafe. It’s in Hampden. Really, really good. Favorite dinner spot would have to be Barcocina. It’s in Fells. It’s a taco spot.

PB: What’s your favorite pregame meal or snack?
KD: If it’s breakfast, I love a bagel sandwich — egg and cheese on an everything bagel — but if it’s a later game, I’ll get a wrap or some sandwich.

PB: What’s your favorite movie of all time?
KD: I have two. I really like “Good Will Hunting,” but I also like “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.” Way different genres, but I like them both.

PB: If you could trade places with any movie or TV character, who would it be?
KD: I really like “Friends,” so maybe Rachel Green in “Friends.” That sounds fun.

PB: What TV show have you been binging lately?
KD: Right now, I’m watching “90210.”

PB: What advice would you give to an aspiring college lacrosse player?
KD: It would be just to keep pushing yourself to be your best because there’s always room for growth. So wherever you can learn and grow, try to take those opportunities and just cherish the friendships and the experiences you make along the way.
