Rashod Bateman, Ja’Kobi Gillespie, Cole Irvin and Nate Wiggins joined Glenn Clark Radio recently. Here’s what they had to say.

“I want to prove to myself that I can actually be a star. Be someone the team can depend on, [be] reliable. I’ve been that, but my career took some hits, some ups and downs, but I’m in a good spot right now. I feel good, I’m healthy, excited, all my chips in the basket. So it should be a good year.”

“Just seeing how Maryland is known for point guards … it definitely caught my attention and I knew I could be the next one.”

“I think it has a lot to do with understanding that I am going to fail. Accepting that first is the hardest part to do. Accepting failure first is how I deal with things that are out of my control, like moving around from the starting rotation to the bullpen to maybe getting optioned like last season. There are so many uncontrollable factors — maybe based on performance, maybe not. There’s a lot of things in our life that we can’t control.”
Orioles pitcher Cole Irvin May 30 on how he was able to deal with the disappointment of his 2023 season and bounce back this season

“When people bring up my weight, I just say, ‘Look at the film.’ You don’t really see folks pushing me around. I don’t get pushed around. You probably can say I miss tackles but … I mean, I’m only 20 years old. I haven’t [grown to] my full self yet. So I just feel like, look at what I do now. When I gain 10, 15 pounds it’s gonna be scary.”
Ravens first-round pick and former Clemson cornerback Nate Wiggins May 9 on how he responds to criticism of his slight frame (he is listed at 182 pounds)
