2024 marks PressBox’s eighth annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best Home Run (Signing)
The Ravens were rumored to be in the market for a running back when NFL free agency began in March, particularly with J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards set to hit the market. Perhaps it shouldn’t have been surprising that they took another big swing after they had attempted to trade for Derrick Henry during the 2023 season.
This time they got their man, inking the two-time NFL rushing “King” to a two-year, $16 million deal.
And while the wisdom of signing running backs over the age of 30 can be questioned, the move paid immediate dividends. Henry had nine touchdowns in the first six weeks of the season alone.
