2024 marks PressBox’s eighth annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best College Athletes: Sydni Black and Chase Boyle
Loyola women’s lacrosse went 18-3 overall and won the Patriot League regular-season and tournament titles with the help of conference Midfielder of the Year Sydni Black and Attacker of the Year Chase Boyle.
The latter was a Tewaaraton Award finalist and first-team All-American thanks to an 85-goal season that ranked second in Division I. Black’s 76 goals ranked tied for sixth, helping her become the No. 5 overall pick in the Athletes Unlimited Pro Lacrosse College Draft in May.
Boyle will begin her senior season at Loyola in the spring with 166 career goals, 63 shy of Grace Gavin’s Greyhounds record (229).
