2024 marks PressBox’s eighth annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best High School Female Athlete
It’s certainly fair to say Kennedy Umeh left her mark at McDonogh School, helping the Eagles win three consecutive IAAM A Conference hoops championships.
The 6-foot-4 center had a stellar senior season — 19.1 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.4 steals and 2.0 assists per game — as part of a 25-4 campaign. She was named the 2023-24 Gatorade Maryland Girls Basketball Player of the Year and took part in the Jordan Brand Classic in Brooklyn, N.Y., in the spring.
She is now plying her trade at Stanford.
