2024 marks PressBox’s eighth annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best First Impression
In March, Orioles fans enjoyed one of the more memorable Opening Days in recent memory, and it had little to do with the team’s 11-3 win against the Angels.
Instead, the day was a celebration of a change in leadership. Just a day earlier, the sale of the team to a group led by Baltimore native David Rubenstein was finalized by Major League Baseball.
The group wasted little time ingratiating themselves. Three members of the new ownership team — Mike Arougheti, Michael Smith and Mitch Goldstein — wandered across the street to buy every fan at Pickles a beer to celebrate the occasion.
