2024 marks PressBox’s eighth annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best Match Made In Heaven
In order to compete for a second consecutive national championship, UConn men’s basketball needed a lift from the transfer portal. The Huskies found the perfect fit in Davidsonville native and Boys’ Latin graduate Cam Spencer, whose competitive fire meshed well with notoriously fiery coach Dan Hurley.
Spencer averaged 14.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists and shot 44 percent from 3-point range as part of the Huskies’ 37-3 season. The second-round draft pick is now on a two-way contract with the Memphis Grizzlies.
