2024 marks PressBox’s eighth annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best Knockout
After a 14-month layoff, Gervonta “Tank” Davis returned to the ring in June and … picked up right where he left off.
The Baltimore native shook off some early ring rust to take control of the fight and then ultimately knocked out previously unbeaten Frank Martin in the eighth round with a devastating left cross. With the win, Davis improved to 30-0 as a pro.
The event was a special fight for Davis’ camp, as it marked the 100th championship boxing event at the legendary MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Unfortunately, a scheduled December fight with Lamont Roach Jr. was postponed until March 2025 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.
