2024 marks PressBox’s eighth annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best New Venue
From 1993-2020, Hagerstown was home to a popular and locally significant minor league baseball team. The Suns competed at Municipal Stadium, which had previously hosted a Braves affiliate from 1941-1955. The late Willie Mays made his professional debut at the ballpark.
In May, baseball returned to the community when the Atlantic League’s Hagerstown Flying Boxcars played their first-ever game at the brand-new Meritus Park. The state-of-the-art facility drew rave reviews and crowds of more than 4,000 fans for multiple games this summer.
