2024 marks PressBox’s eighth annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best Night Out In New York
One day before clinching a playoff spot in September, a few Orioles players had a particularly interesting night out in Gotham.
During a WILD postgame interview, Colton Cowser explained that players had gone to see “The Great Gatsby” on Broadway, with an “excellent” third understudy playing Daisy Buchanan. (His particular night also included a pre-show pizookie.)
It turns out Kayla Pecchioni wasn’t actually the third understudy (just the understudy), but she was so popular with the players she visited Baltimore as the national anthem singer before Game 2 of the Wild Card Series in October.
