Julian Reese, Cooper Rush, Gary Williams and Corbin Burnes joined Glenn Clark Radio recently. Here’s what they had to say.
“It means a lot. … I just like how we’re going out, how I’m going out for my last year. I’m going out on a good note.”
– Maryland big man Julian Reese (Saint Frances) March 7 on what it meant to have a strong season to wrap up his four-year career
“It kind of came out of nowhere a little bit, but I think it’s a perfect fit. I talked to coach [John] Harbaugh and coach [Todd] Monken. We met over the week and felt really good and fulfilled a need for the team. You see from afar the success they have and the stability. All things you hear, it’s a good organization, so I’m excited to be a part of it.”
– New Ravens backup quarterback Cooper Rush March 25 on why he chose to sign with the Ravens
“John didn’t let friendship get in the way of saying negative things about myself. But I respected him because he was honest. I don’t think he ever deliberately tried to hurt you. He was just reporting what he felt was out there.”
– Former Maryland men’s basketball coach Gary Williams March 14 on the death of author, sportswriter and media personality John Feinstein
“There was definitely conversations. I never received anything in writing, but there was a lot of numbers thrown back and forth between Baltimore and [my agent Scott Boras]. They did have sincere interest of bringing me back. I just don’t think we matched up necessarily on the amount of years that I think it was going to take to get it done. But as far as the money per year, they were definitely right there.”
– Diamondbacks ace and former Oriole Corbin Burnes April 9 on whether Baltimore fans should be encouraged about the club’s willingness to spend based on its offer to him
