2025 marks PressBox’s ninth annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best Dynasty
One of the constant debates among sports fans is what qualifies as a dynasty. Is it three straight championships? How about three in four years?
Whatever the definition, Severna Park boys’ lacrosse certainly qualifies. The Falcons (16-1) won a ninth straight state title in May with an 11-4 win against Towson High School in the Class 3A championship game.
It marked the second title under Bob Zichelli, who took over ahead of the 2024 season after Dave Earl stepped down. And get this: Zichelli, a part-time Anne Arundel County Public Schools bus driver in his mid-60s, doubles as the team’s bus driver to and from road games.
