2025 marks PressBox’s ninth annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best College Athletes: TaKenya Stafford
One of the most accomplished athletes in Baltimore resides at Coppin State, where TaKenya Stafford plies her trade on the volleyball court.
The 5-foot-11 redshirt senior outside hitter led the MEAC in kills (491) and finished fourth in the league in kills per set (3.64), earning 2025 MEAC Player of the Year honors and a third consecutive first-team all-league selection.
Stafford also took home MEAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors after totaling 39 kills in tournament victories against South Carolina State, Delaware State and Howard. She led Coppin to its second MEAC title in three years, part of a 23-12 season.
