Swiss Skydiver won the 145th Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Race Course Sept. 3 in a photo finish with Kentucky Derby winner Authentic, becoming the first Filly to win the Preakness since Rachel Alexandra (2009).

Swiss Skydiver was 11-1 to win the Preakness, while Authentic was 3-2.

Swiss Skydiver was jockeyed by Robby Albarado and trained by Kenny McPeek. Albarado had won the Preakness Stakes on Curlin in 2007, while this represented the first Preakness win for McPeek.

Swiss Skydiver had run eight races this year leading up to the Preakness, finishing second in the Kentucky Oaks earlier this month.

Pimlico did not host any fans for this year’s Preakness due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Only 250 people were allowed at Pimlico Oct. 3.
