Cal Ripken Jr.
In the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation formed the Strike Out Hunger campaign to support Feeding America, a nonprofit organization that helps feed those in need.
To promote the campaign, Orioles legend Cal Ripken Jr. joined Twitter.
“I thought it was a great opportunity to go on, spread the word, ask people to help,” Ripken said in April. “… For [every] dollar that you give, that’s 10 meals distributed. Just think of the impact you could have for $10 or $5. I would never underestimate those sorts of small contributions that can add up to big help.”
