An injury ended former Orioles lefty Wade LeBlanc’s 2020 season prematurely, but LeBlanc hardly stayed on the sideline.
After Hurricane Laura slammed into LeBlanc’s hometown of Lake Charles, La., in late August, LeBlanc went to work. He teamed up with fellow Lake Charles native and former Oriole Jace Peterson to create a GoFundMe campaign called “Operation Rebuild Lake Charles.” The effort had raised nearly $57,000 as of early December.
“My wife and I both grew up in this community, and are now raising our boys here,” LeBlanc wrote on Instagram. “Laura might have been able to uproot trees, but our roots go much deeper. Please help us help Lake Charles move forward and upward!”
