Player of the Week

Johns Hopkins Attackman Connor DeSimone
The senior out of St. James, N.Y., scored a career-high four goals and added one assist to lead the Blue Jays to a 13-16 victory against then-No. 12 Penn State.

1. Maryland (4-0)
Previous Game: Defeated then-No. 4 Rutgers, 19-12
Spotlight: The third-ranked Terrapins kept rolling with another impressive victory against a Big Ten opponent with a 10-3 run in the second half. Senior attackman Jared Bernhardt had a career-high six goals with an assist, while sophomore attackman Daniel Maltz finished with four goals. Junior midfielder Kyle Long earned his first career hat trick.

2. Loyola (3-2)
Previous Game: Defeated Lafayette, 16-6
Spotlight: The 12th-ranked Greyhounds used a 15-2 run to put away the Leopards. Senior attackman Aidan Olmstead led Loyola with two goals and five assists, while sophomore midfielder Evan James tied a career high with six points (four goals and two assists). Senior attackman Kevin Lindley and graduate midfielder Peter Swindell both had hat tricks for the Greyhounds as well.

3. Johns Hopkins (2-2)
Previous Game: Defeated then-No. 12 Penn State, 13-6
Spotlight: The Blue Jays used a 13-1 run to knock off the Nittany Lions. The victory catapulted Johns Hopkins into the national rankings at No. 15. Junior attackman Joey Epstein (Landon) had two goals and two assists, while graduate attackman/midfielder Cole Williams (Loyola Blakefield) and junior midfielder Garrett Degnon (DeMatha) had two goals apiece. Graduate goalkeeper Josh Kirson finished with six saves. Johns Hopkins outshot Penn State, 46-22.
