BROOKLYN (June 1, 2021) – The Maryland men’s basketball team will play Florida Dec. 12 in the second annual Basketball Hall of Fame Invitational at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., as announced June 1 by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
Ticket information, television broadcast details and game times will be announced at a later date.
The announcement marks the first official game to be made public of the Terrapins’ upcoming 2021-22 season.
Maryland is 2-2 all-time competing at Barclays Center, most recently defeating Richmond and Kansas State to claim the Barclays Center Classic title in 2016.
The Terrapins will meet the Gators for the first time since 2003, when they memorably upended top-seeded Florida, 69-68, in overtime on the road. Travis Garrison hit the game-winning jumper with 18 seconds remaining as head coach Gary Williams picked up his 300th victory at Maryland.
Maryland has been selected as a top-15 team in 2021-22 by virtually every national publication that has released early rankings, while the NCAA’s Andy Katz recently picked the Terrapins as the favorite in the Big Ten Conference.
