2021 marks PressBox’s fifth annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best College Athletes: Miajavon ‘Mimi’ Coleman
The Coppin State volleyball team put together its first winning season ever — along with its first regular-season MEAC title — in the spring. The Eagles built off that by going 16-12 in the fall.
Leading the revival for Coppin State has been Miajavon ‘Mimi’ Coleman, a senior who plans to exercise her extra year of eligibility in 2022. Coleman had 566 total kills between the spring and fall. She has 1,387 career kills, topping Cindy Okpegbue’s previous school record of 1,252 career kills.
“She’s hard-working, determined, smart, mature and willing to put in the work,” Eagles head coach Tim Walsh said in the fall.
