Player of the Week

Cormac Giblin, Mount St. Mary’s
The junior attackman from Bishop O’Connell notched a hat trick in a 9-8 victory against in-state rival UMBC. He has 10 goals and two assists in five games this season.

1. Maryland (4-0)
Previous Game: Defeated Princeton, 15-10
Spotlight: Fifth-year attackman Logan Wisnauksas (Boys’ Latin) and graduate midfielder Jonathan Donville each scored four goals to pace the No. 1 Terrapins. Wisnauskas also had two assists and moved into second place on Maryland’s all-time scoring list with 262 career points behind Jared Bernhardt (290).

2. Johns Hopkins (3-1)
Previous Game: Lost to No. 9 North Carolina, 15-19
Spotlight: Senior attackman Joey Epstein (Landon) led the Blue Jays with four goals, while graduate attackman Connor DeSimone added two goals and two assists. Graduate goalie Josh Kirson had a career-high 20 saves. He is the first Johns Hopkins goalie with a 20-save performance since May 8, 2010, when Pierce Bassett had 20 in a win against Loyola.

3. Mount St. Mary’s (3-2)
Previous Game: Defeated UMBC, 9-8
Spotlight: The Mountaineers beat the Retrievers for just the second time in their history. Senior midfielder Connor McMahon had two goals and one assist, while senior attackman Jared McMahon extended his scoring streak to 10 games after scoring two goals. The Mountaineers outshot the Retrievers, 44-28.

4. UMBC (1-1)
Previous Game: Lost to Mount St. Mary’s, 9-8
Spotlight: The Retrievers trailed by four at the half and their late rally fell short against the Mountaineers. Senior attackman Jack Thomas (Severna Park) had a goal and two assists, while freshman attackman Mike Doughty (Glenelg) scored twice.

5. Loyola (0-3)
Previous Game: Lost to No. 4 Rutgers, 13-12
Spotlight: The Greyhounds rally fell short against the Scarlet Knights, who scored five straight goals after trailing 11-8 to seal the win. Junior midfielder Adam Poitras scored four goals, and graduate attackman Kevin Lindley added a hat trick for Loyola. Graduate attackman Aidan Olmstead had two goals and five assists for the Greyhounds.

6. Navy (3-2)
Previous Game: Lost to High Point, 14-13
Spotlight: The Panthers scored the game-winner with just under five minutes left in the game after sophomore midfielder Dane Swanson (McDonogh) tied the score for Navy. Freshman attackman Henry Tolker (Loyola Blakefield) and sophomore midfielder Max Hewitt each had three goals. Swanson scored twice.

7. Towson (1-3)
Previous Game: Lost to Richmond, 16-15, in 3OT
Spotlight: Junior attackman Nick DeMaio (Maryland transfer) tied the game for the Tigers with one second left in regulation to force overtime, but Ryan Dunn (Loyola Blakefield) had the game-winner in the third overtime for the Spiders. DeMaio finished with six goals.
