NFL teams meeting with individual players are a significant part of the draft process. These meetings can happen at the NFL Scouting Combine, pro days, the Senior Bowl, the East-West Shrine Bowl or a private workout.

For fans following the process, these meetings are sort of like poker tells for the draft, as they indicate what positions a team could be focusing on. Do teams draft players they haven’t met with? Yes, they do. It happens all the time, but they have often spoken to other players at that position.

Who have the Baltimore Ravens met with so far? A good list to check is usually at WalterFootball.com, but with the state of the world as it is, it has become a tad tougher to find those tea leaves.

So far, teams have had access to players at the various bowl showcases (like the Senior or East-West Shrine Bowls). The Combine is taking place now, and then Pro Days begin. Therefore, I am going to profile players you should know and who the Ravens could select in the 2022 NFL Draft. Today is Michigan EDGE David Ojabo. Let’s get to know him better.

Tale of the Tape

Height: 6-foot-5

Weight: 250 pounds

Strengths: Elite athlete! Shows excellent speed, power and balance; has multiple ways to get to the quarterback; terrific first step; showed a nice spin and chop move at times; closes extremely well. I also actually liked him more then expected in pass coverage. He grew up in Scotland playing soccer (the reason for excellent feet) and was a basketball star in high school. His first year playing football was 2017.

Areas For Improvement: Ojabo’s work in the run game and inexperience stand out, but I do not think teams will be too concerned about that early in his career; can get washed out of the play easily when he doesn’t get a quick read; was only a one-year starter at Michigan, as he played behind Kwity Paye in 2020; played one high school football game.

Other Notes: All-Big Ten in 2021; second-team All-American in 2021; Academic All-Big Ten in 2020. He attended Blair Academy, the same high school as Odafe Oweh.

NFL player comparison: Chandler Jones, John Abraham, Odafe Oweh

Draft Projection: One could argue Ojabo has the most upside of any EDGE in this year’s draft, but he was only a starter in 2021 and needs a bit of fine tuning. He is still learning the game of football. A team that just wants him to get after the quarterback early in his NFL career should be more than happy with him. He is a top-15 pick, and it would not surprise me if he goes in the top 10.
