OK, gang, I always explain that unless I am a complete degenerate, I am going to pick games by points when I feel I have some clear picture of what the reality of four to six games per week might really look like.

So, I took some time off after a 2-4 mark in Week 2. I am now ready to sound off on a few games.

Buffalo Bills (2-1) at Baltimore Ravens (2-1)
Line: Buffalo -3

The Bills come in after a loss to Miami (sound familiar?) down in South Florida. Buffalo didn’t blow it late the way the Ravens did. However, the Bills come in banged up in their secondary. I just have a feeling Lamar Jackson can continue his streak of completing long passes to Mark Andrews and Rashod Bateman. Look for him to use J.K. Dobbins a bit to keep the pass rush at bay.

Prediction: BALTIMORE 30, Buffalo 27

Chicago Bears (2-1) at New York Giants (2-1)
Line: New York -3

This game may feature two of the worst 2-1 teams. Both teams have given up more than they have scored. I am scratching my head at the size of this line given the teams the Giants have beaten to date: the Titans in Nashville in Week 1 and the Panthers at home in Week 2. Daniel Jones looked very shaky and unable to connect against Dallas in Week 3, and that was before Sterling Shepard suffered a season-ending torn ACL. Go with the team that has played better defense and take the gift of three.

Prediction: CHICAGO 20, New York 16

Washington Commanders (1-2) at Dallas Cowboys (2-1)
Line: Dallas -3

Cooper Rush has shown he can lead a team to victories during a short period of time. If Rush keeps this up much longer, Jerry Jones may just turn this into a quarterback controversy. For me, the equation is pretty simple — the Commanders just don’t get the quarterback world. They ended up with another lame signal-caller. The Cowboys will have the crowd firmly in their corner, and it will give them a huge emotional edge to go with the edge they already have on both sides of the ball. If I am right about this game, the Commanders may start to envision a red-hot seat for head coach Ron Rivera, who has been a much better Commanders ambassador than coach.

Prediction: DALLAS 27, Washington 16

Los Angeles Chargers (1-2) at Houston (0-2-1)
Line: Los Angeles -5.5

It just feels like the Chargers, even at 1-2 and with loads of injuries, are a bargain against a team that Lovie Smith is trying to will into respectability with Davis Mills at quarterback. Justin Herbert is pretty banged up, and it wouldn’t be the first time a team didn’t get up to play a game against a perennial loser with a new head coach who can make a difference. But give me the Chargers here.

Prediction: LOS ANGELES 31, Houston 14

Cleveland Browns (2-1) at Atlanta Falcons (1-2)
Line: Cleveland -1.5

I know the Browns’ rap right now is that they play smash-mouth football, but in my estimation of things, it seems like Marcus Mariota has his side fired up. Cordarrelle Patterson is playing at an incredibly high level. Myles Garrett will likely miss the game after his one-car accident left him with a problematic shoulder and bicep.

Prediction: ATLANTA 30, Cleveland 27
