Here are my top pickups entering Week 5:
Jared Goff, QB, Detroit Lions: The Lions are the highest-scoring team in the NFL. You read that right. Goff has thrown four touchdowns in two of Detroit’s last three games, and he’ll have to continue to air it out because the Lions’ defense stinks.
Tyler Allgeier, RB, Atlanta Falcons: He was my prized sleeper during draft season, and the touches are finally starting to come his way. He had 104 yards on 11 touches in Week 4, and those numbers should rise in the coming weeks.
Brian Robinson, RB, Washington Commanders: He’s expected to be activated from the physically unable to perform (PUP) list this week and will immediately eat into Antonio Gibson’s touches. Before long, he’ll be the lead back for the Commanders.
Isiah Pacheco, RB, Kansas City Chiefs: Clyde Edwards-Helaire is still the lead back, but Pacheco showed in Week 4 that he can be effective when given the opportunity. Stash him on your bench in the event that something happens to CEH.
Mike Boone, RB, Denver Broncos: Javonte Williams suffered a knee injury in Week 4 and Melvin Gordon is in the doghouse after four fumbles on the season. Boone was on the field in crunch time as the Broncos attempted to come back against the Raiders. He could get extended playing time if Gordon coughs it up again.
Romeo Doubs, WR, Green Bay Packers: He was featured last week. If he’s still available, go get him. He had 16 targets and two touchdowns the last two games and is Aaron Rodgers’ top wide receiver at the moment. The Packers’ offense is due for an explosion in the coming weeks.
George Pickens, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers: I swear I did not intentionally pick almost all rookies to make this piece. Pickens is coming off his first 100-yard receiving game and a quarterback change might do him even better. Pick him up before he really starts going off.
Corey Davis, WR, New York Jets: Davis is another one of my draft darlings who is starting to post numbers. He had a team-high seven targets in Week 4, which has been the norm when Zach Wilson has been under center. The two have chemistry together and it will show moving forward.
Robert Tonyan, TE, Green Bay Packers: He’s one of Rodgers’ most reliable targets. The Packers’ next three games are against the Giants, Jets and Commanders. Rodgers will shred those defenses and Tonyan will be one of the primary beneficiaries.
