2022 marks PressBox’s sixth annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best Dagger
One of the first moves Kevin Willard made after taking the Maryland head coaching job was adding former Charlotte guard Jahmir Young via the transfer portal. A native of Upper Marlboro, Young became the first DeMatha Catholic grad to choose the Terps since Travis Garrison two decades ago. He announced his presence with authority against Illinois in early December, scoring 24 points and hitting the dagger three with 14.3 seconds left to lead Maryland to a 71-66 win.
