2022 marks PressBox’s sixth annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.

The CIAA Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournament was supposed to make its Baltimore debut in 2021 after a long run in Charlotte, but the COVID-19 pandemic pushed everything back to 2022. The event was a success, with about 66,000 fans attending 22 games in late February at what is now known as CFG Bank Arena. Fayetteville State University took home the men’s title, while Lincoln University (Pa.) won the women’s title. There were plenty of events around town connected to the tournament, too. The 2023 tournament will be the first event to take place at the arena post-renovation, and thanks to a new extension, the tournament will continue its run in Baltimore for 2024 and 2025.
