2022 marks PressBox’s sixth annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best Streak-Ender
The Vermont men’s soccer team came to Catonsville in October ranked No. 10 in the nation and riding a lengthy shutout streak that extended to 794 minutes until UMBC scored two goals in the final minutes of the match to win, 2-1. Forward Taylor Calheira netted the equalizer in the 83rd minute, then midfielder Ryan Becher buried a penalty kick in the 89th. Students rushed the field following the final horn to celebrate the biggest win of the year for UMBC.
