In 12th NFL Season, Kevin Zeitler Has Found A Home With Ravens

Ravens right guard Kevin Zeitler’s wife, Sara, might be the one to credit for the difference between the performance of the Ravens’ wide receivers from Week 1, when they totaled 150 yards, and Week 2, when they combined for 172 yards and a touchdown.

She made red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting for the wide receiver group, and they left a good impression. In fact, it was no secret as to how Nelson Agholor caught five passes for 63 yards and a touchdown.

“She did make the cupcakes this week for the wide receivers, and they had a good week, so she might have to keep doing it from now on,” Kevin Zeitler said on Glenn Clark Radio Sept. 18. “I don’t know so much if it’s superstition, but they’ve already asked for another round of them.”

In his 12th season in the NFL and third with the Ravens, Zeitler has found a home in Baltimore. The 6-foot-4, 315-pound guard is in a contract year with the Ravens after he signed a three-year deal in 2021. Zeitler, cut by the New York Giants in March 2021, enjoys Baltimore because of how the organization treats its players’ families.

“I feel like it truly has an effect. From ownership down to how the coaches approach it, it truly is a family-friendly environment,” Zeitler said. “They’re always trying to do the best for everyone and their families, no matter what’s needed. They truly do not spare any expense, time-wise or relationship-wise, to help the guys out here. It’s a really, really nice thing to be a part of.”

Zeitler and the offensive line stepped up against the Bengals after allowing four sacks to Houston in Week 1. It was a meaningful win for the team, going up against an AFC North rival and the team that knocked Baltimore out of the playoffs last season.

Zeitler helped pave the way for 178 rushing yards:

“It was really fun. It was good to play a tough team, a team that honestly most people consider the standard right now with their Super Bowl and championship appearances,” Zeitler said. “Going in there and being able to get some things done, that’s a good starting point for us for sure.”

While Zeitler is now 33 years old, he still loves the game and doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon.

“I think it’s just pride. I love the game. I really do,” Zeitler said. “I love playing with my teammates. I owe it to them every day just making sure I’m ready to roll, whether it’s treatments, personal body prep, things I need to get done mentally, physically. It’s just part of the process. It’s not even a challenge. It’s just part of who I am. Glad to do it, glad to be out there, and hopefully, it keeps me going many, many more years.”
