2023 marks PressBox’s seventh annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best 11-Inning No-Hitter
Yennier Cano was believed to be a throw-in when he came to the Orioles as part of the Jorge López deal in 2022, and he did nothing to dispel that notion after the deal, giving up nine runs in three appearances for the Orioles that year.
But Cano took advantage of another opportunity in 2023, posting a 2.11 ERA and 58 percent ground-ball rate in 72.2 innings.
He didn’t allow a hit against the first 33 batters he faced, covering 11 innings (nine appearances) after being called up from Triple-A Norfolk. Plunking Justin Turner was the lone blemish during that time.
