That was the case for the Maryland baseball program, as Matt Shaw took home the honor one year after Chris “Bubba” Alleyne did the same.
Shaw hit .341/.445/.697 with 45 extra-base hits in 2023, leading the Terps to a 42-21 season and a third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.
The shortstop was taken No. 13 overall by the Chicago Cubs in July’s MLB Draft, hitting .357/.400/.618 across three levels during his first pro season.
