2023 marks PressBox’s seventh annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.

Towson women’s soccer was on the right track entering the 2023 season and put it all together with a 15-3-2 season that included the program’s first CAA title and NCAA Tournament appearance.
But it was all hanging in the balance in the final moments of the CAA championship match, as Monmouth midfielder Liza Suydam had an opportunity to tie the match at two with a penalty kick. Tigers goalkeeper Riley Melendez leaned to her right as Suydam approached the ball — the correct decision — and made a diving stop to preserve a 2-1 victory as time expired.
Melendez earned tournament Most Outstanding Player honors.
