10 Questions With Loyola Women’s Lacrosse’s Regan Kielmeyer

Loyola women’s lacrosse graduate student Regan Kielmeyer recently chatted with PressBox about her world travels, her favorite sports star growing up and more. The 5-foot-7 attacker has scored 11 goals, dished out 14 assists and picked up 14 ground balls in 2024. Kielmeyer is a native of Lloyd Harbor, N.Y., and graduate of Smithtown High School West.

PressBox: What’s a bucket-list place you’ve never been?

Regan Kielmeyer: I’ve actually been to almost 50 countries, so a bucket-list place I’ve never been would probably be Brazil. My family and I have just been traveling since I can remember.

PB: What’s the coolest place you’ve ever been?

RK: The coolest place I’ve ever been is India. India’s super cool because for one thing, it’s huge. There are so many people everywhere. Each part of India that we went to was different, so you have the Taj Mahal and then you have parts where you drive three hours through mustard seed fields. It’s totally out of this world, I would say.

PB: What’s your favorite Patriot League road trip?

RK: Favorite Patriot League road trip would be Holy Cross because I love flying into Boston. My brother lives in Boston, so he makes the hour drive to Worcester, Mass., and gets to see my game.

PB: What is your favorite “guilty” food?

RK: My favorite guilty food would be s’mores. I love the whole process of making the s’mores and I love everything s’mores-flavored.

PB: What’s your favorite pregame meal and snack?

RK: Pregame meal would be egg and cheese on a toasted everything bagel. Pregame snack would probably be cold brew coffee and GoGo Squeez applesauce.

PB: Who was your favorite sports star growing up?

RK: Kai Lenny. He is a professional surfer. I know he also does skateboarding and snowboarding. He’s an extreme sport athlete, and he does the craziest things. He pushes all the barriers. He does flips on a surfboard. He’ll quadruple flip into a wave. He’s super sick, and he’s definitely my favorite.

PB: What was your favorite sports team growing up?

RK: The New York Yankees, for sure. My mom is originally from the Bronx, so we grew up going to tons of Yankees games right behind the bullpen. We would yell and we would chirp, and it was just the best time. I have a bunch of signed balls.

PB: What’s your favorite movie of all time?

RK: “Pitch Perfect”

PB: What’s your go-to karaoke song?

RK: It would probably be “Bang Bang” by Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj.

PB: What’s your favorite thing to do on a day off?

RK: Hang out with my parents if they’re in town. They’re usually here the day after a weekend game, and I think that would be my favorite thing to do.
