Best College Athletes: Ajax Zappitello
Maryland men’s lacrosse lost three of four games during a midseason stretch in March but shook it off to make it to the national championship game against Notre Dame with the help of senior leaders like Ajax Zappitello.
The Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year picked up 34 ground balls and caused 27 turnovers, guiding the Terps to an 11-6 season that included NCAA Tournament victories against Duke and Virginia.
Zappitello was selected by the Maryland Whipsnakes with the No. 3 pick of the 2024 PLL College Draft and played in all 10 games this summer.
