2024 marks PressBox’s eighth annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best First Half
Maryland men’s basketball showed plenty of positive signs in the first month of the 2024-25 season, but it was an 83-59 win against Ohio State in the Big Ten opener on Dec. 4 that truly revealed the potential of the team.
The Terps outscored the Buckeyes, 50-17, in the first half, tied for the largest halftime lead in a Big Ten game since 1996-97. Maryland shot 55.9 percent from the field and forced 12 turnovers in the half.
Highlights included an ankle-breaking 3-pointer by Ja’Kobi Gillespie and a big-time baseline dunk by Tafara Gapare.
