Ahead of the 2024 season, it was obvious that the Orioles needed to find a top-of-the-rotation starter. On Feb. 1, GM Mike Elias pulled the trigger on a deal that brought former Brewers ace Corbin Burnes to Baltimore in his final year of arbitration before hitting free agency.
The right-hander’s Opening Day start against the Angels — six innings, one run and 11 strikeouts — set the tone for a season in which he recorded a 2.92 ERA in 194.1 innings. We hear he also threw a gem in the playoffs that went for naught.
