2024 marks PressBox’s eighth annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best Power Month
The Orioles hit 60 home runs in June, joining the Yankees (74, August 2019) and Braves (61, June 2023) as the only teams to reach that mark in a single month.
The highlight of the power surge was the team’s final home run of the month, a grand slam by Heston Kjerstad that helped the Orioles beat the Rangers, 6-5, on June 29. Kjerstad hit a 92 mph cutter in off the plate from Michael Lorenzen out to right-center. It’s fair to say the crowd of 44,286 appreciated the swing.
