2024 marks PressBox’s eighth annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best Save
Just like you would have expected, our “Best Save” category for 2024 belongs to … Ravens tight end Mark Andrews.
In February, Andrews was aboard a flight to Phoenix when a woman suffered a medical emergency. According to witness Andrew Springs, medical personnel aboard the flight “couldn’t find a strong pulse, her blood pressure was extremely low and required oxygen to breathe.”
Andrews, a Type 1 diabetic, stepped in and suggested using his diabetic testing kit, which he instructed the professionals on how to use. After the diagnosis, the woman’s condition improved by being given some orange juice.
It was another huge catch for a player very accustomed to making them.
