It’s no secret that the first trip to the major leagues didn’t go well for Jackson Holliday: 36 plate appearances, 18 strikeouts, four times on base.
The No. 1 overall pick of the 2022 MLB Draft was sent down to Triple-A Norfolk to make the necessary adjustments and was called back up to the majors ahead of the Orioles’ July 31 game against Toronto.
In the fifth inning, Holliday smoked an 85 mph slider from Yerry Rodríguez onto Eutaw Street, becoming the third Oriole ever to hit a grand slam for his first big league homer as part of a 10-4 win.
