2024 marks PressBox’s eighth annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best Southpaw Start
No matter how the Orioles fill out their pitching staff for the 2025 season, they will likely need lefty Cade Povich to build off a September in which he posted a 2.60 ERA in 27.2 innings (five starts) and struck out 32.
His best start of that stretch took place on Sept. 3, when he twirled 7.1 innings of shutout ball against the White Sox while striking out 10, walking none and generally giving off Max Fried vibes. Here’s hoping Povich’s pretty curveball is a staple of the Orioles’ rotation for years to come.
